Since Savvy Homes was first established in 2009, it has grown to include a large team of highly experienced staff. Each member of our team is dedicated to providing the best professional and personalised service for our customers as they journey towards building their dream home.
JOHN BUTTIGIEG - managing director
Following in the footsteps of his father, who was also a builder, John Buttigieg first began his building career back in 1999 when he started a carpentry apprenticeship. At only 18 years old he set out on his own and successfully ran his own carpentry business, constructing homes in the western suburbs of Melbourne. John spent over 10 years working hard as a carpenter before persuing his dream to become a licenced builder. His strong work ethic, hands-on experience and keen eye for detail made for an ideal combination as he proceeded to start up his own building company.
Since its launch in 2009, John has been the driving force for Savvy Homes. His abundance of understanding and experience in the contemporary building process and his personal strive for perfection has helped propel Savvy Homes forward. Since the very early days, John has continually gone out of his way to improve the quality of his projects and moved quickly from building modest houses to constructing luxury custom homes. Throughout his entire building career, John has maintained a reputation of integrity and professionalism. His experience and expertise in the building industry and his belief in quality and customer relations, is the fundamental basis for our business and is integrated into everything we do.
John assumes the roles of Managing Director and Head Construction Manager. He oversees all new project aqusitions and also manages quality control to ensure consistent high-quality outcomes on all projects. As well as managing his team of employees and contractors, our director John, prides himself on working directly with our clients and is heavily involved in each build we take on.
michelle xuereb - finance manager
Michelle is our numbers guru with over 16 years of experience in accounting, finance and corporate services across a variety of industries. Her finance journey began with her graduating with distinctions from RMIT with a degree in business specialising in accounting. Michelle’s expertise in account management, budgeting and forecasting have been invaluable assets, and contributed to her continually moving into roles of greater responsibility throughout the course of her career.
Michelle’s passion for finance and meticulous eye for detail has seen her add value and growth to Savvy Homes. Her knowledge and skills have put her in good stead to provide invaluable advice related to new acquisitions, as well as the general management of internal structuring, tax and accounting. As Finance Manager, Michelle is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the business, along with the administration of new employees at Savvy Homes.
Nicki Moore - PROJECT Manager
Nicki has been with Savvy Homes for over 4 years and was highly involved during our initial expansion. Before she joined our team, Nicki spent over 15 years working in a variety of construction administration and management roles. During her career, Nicki has had direct and indirect experience working in the building industry through volume builders and property development entities, adding a wealth of knowledge and experience within our business.
As Project Manager, Nicki is responsible for the day-to-day internal operations of the office, onsite project coordination and is the primary point of contact for clients. Working together with the Managing Director and Construction Manager, Nicki also handles new enquiries and oversees all bookings, orders and applications. Despite her long list of responsibilities, Nicki’s first priority is customer satisfaction. This dedication and passion has seen her exceed client’s expectations on projects year after year.
Stephen Buttigieg - site supervisor
With over 40 years’ experience in residential construction, Stephen has been involved in many facets of the building industry, from hands-on trade experience and project management to mentoring and training. Prior to commencing at Savvy Homes, Stephen spent over 40 years running his own bricklaying company and has been a licenced home builder since 1987.
Stephen utilised his expertise and experience as a TAFE educator and continued to use his training experience when he joined Savvy Homes as a Team Mentor and Site Supervisor. Both roles require him to work strategically with Project Managers and contractors to ensure that projects run smoothly and that sites are safe and secure. Stephen oversees hand-over fit-outs and also acts as Maintenance Manager for completed projects.
monica Buttigieg - OPERATIONS MANAGER
Monica brings diverse experience to the Savvy Homes team, with a double degree in Science and Science Education and an Advanced Diploma in Aerospace Engineering. During her 10 years as a educator she had a variety of leadership positions including eLearning where she put her advanced IT and program management skills to work. Despite having a very successful career in teaching, Monica chose to pursue her passion for digital design and efficiency management, which led her to joining our organisation.
As Operations Manager at Savvy Homes, Monica works to improve business operations by reviewing and streamlining our internal processes and redesigning business operations to maximise efficiency. Additional to her role as Operations Manager, Monica also oversees our recruitment and marketing programs. She helps to align our digital strategies with our business goals and objectives to ensure that our online image reflects our reputation. She is responsible for the planning and implementation of marketing and communications campaigns as well as maintaining our social media profiles. She is passionate about combining her creativity with her extensive technical expertise to develop and broaden the Savvy Homes brand.
